Instructions
-
Get your join code(s).
Your AP teacher will give you a join code so you can join their class section in My AP. You’ll receive a unique code for each AP course you’re taking and will need to enter each separately. If you’re only taking an exam without taking the corresponding course, or you’re taking an AP Exam at a school that’s different from where you take the course, the process will be the same, but you’ll get the join code from the AP coordinator at the school where you’ll be taking the exam so you can join an exam only section.
-
Sign in to My AP.
Go to My AP and sign in with your College Board account login. This is the same login you use to access your AP scores, PSAT/NMSQT scores, or register for the SAT. If you don’t have a student account, click the Create Account link on the login page. You can also find troubleshooting tips on the College Board Support Student Sign-In Help page.
-
Join your AP course.
Click the Join a Course or Exam button. Make sure you have the six-character join code from your teacher or AP coordinator.
-
Enter your join code.
Enter the join code your teacher or AP coordinator gave you and click Submit.
-
Verify your AP course information.
Make sure the information shown matches your course. If it does, click Yes.
-
Fill out your registration information.
When you sign in to My AP and enter a join code to join a course for the first time, check your registration information and fill in what’s missing. To fix your name, middle initial, or birth date, contact AP Services after registering. For other changes you make to your AP Profile, make sure to also update that information in your College Board account.
-
For students age 13 and older registering for an AP course at eligible schools*: You’ll have the option to access personalized college and career planning tools.
If your school has enabled access to BigFuture School, a free mobile app, you’ll see a screen during registration where you can choose to provide your mobile number to securely download the app. Once you’ve downloaded the BigFuture School app, you may have the choice to also opt in to Connections™ to discover college and scholarship providers. If you skip this step during registration, you can access BigFuture School later through your My AP profile at any time. Learn more about BigFuture School and Connections.
*BigFuture School and Connections are not offered to students as part of their AP course participation in New York or outside of the United States at this time. There may be other exclusions.
-
Indicate your AP Exam registration (applicable for some schools).
If your school requires you to indicate your exam registration, you’ll see a Register for the Exam button in My AP after you join your course(s). Clicking this button will let your AP coordinator know that you plan to take the exam, and they will order it for you. If you don’t see that button, it means you’ve been automatically registered for the exam. Note: The AP Program charges a fee for each AP Exam. For more information, see the AP Exam Fees page that will be updated for each school year.
-
Confirm you’re enrolled in your AP course.
Once you’ve completed the registration steps, you’ll see a note confirming you’re enrolled in the course. Repeat these steps to enroll in other AP courses, using the unique join code for each course.
-
Access course resources and assignments in AP Classroom.
On the My AP homepage, each course card has a Go to AP Classroom button. Click this button to access resources for your course, such as AP Videos. Click Assignments to see assignments from your teacher.
