Find instructions and test day reminders for participating in the Wednesday, January 28, 2026, AP World Language and Culture Technical Pilot.

Thank you for joining the spring 2026 AP World Language and Culture Technical Pilot! Your feedback will help inform the development of digital AP World Language and Culture exams.

Please download and install Bluebook, the College Board digital testing application, on the device you’ll use to test. If you are bringing an iPad or Windows tablet, you will also need to bring an external keyboard. If you’re using a school-managed device, you may need to ask your school for assistance in downloading and installing Bluebook prior to the technical pilot.

 


Install Keyboards Now

If you’re taking AP Chinese Language and Culture, you’ll need to install a Chinese language keyboard on your testing device prior to test day.

If you’re taking AP Spanish Language and Culture, you’ll need to install either a U.S.- International language keyboard or one of the Spanish language (Spain or Latin America) keyboards on your testing device prior to test day.

 


Test Day Reminders for Students Testing at the College Board in Reston

  • Arrival: Please arrive by 5:15 p.m. at 11955 Democracy Drive.
  • Check-In Location: Take the parking garage elevator to the 9th floor entrance.
  • Parking: Parking is not validated or reimbursed.
  • What to Bring:
    • Acceptable photo ID
    • 2 pencils or pens
    • Testing device with Bluebook and a Spanish or Chinese keyboard installed
    • IMPORTANT: A wired headset with built-in microphone
  • Estimated End Time: Testing concludes around 7:30–8 p.m.
  • Guests: Only registered students may enter the testing area; others will wait in a separate location.

 


Test Day Reminders for Students Testing at the New York Academy of Medicine

  • Arrival: Please arrive by 4:45 p.m. at 1216 5th Ave.
  • Check-In Location: Enter via the 103rd St. entrance and follow signage to the second floor for check-in.
  • Parking: Parking is not validated or reimbursed.
  • What to Bring:
    • Acceptable photo ID
    • 2 pencils or pens
    • Testing device with Bluebook™ and a Spanish or Chinese keyboard installed
    • IMPORTANT: A wired headset with built-in microphone
  • Estimated End Time: Testing concludes around 7–7:30 p.m.
  • Guests: Only registered students may enter the testing area; others will wait in a separate location.

What is the AP World Language and Culture technical pilot about? 

College Board is conducting this administration to collect feedback on the technical development of digital AP World Language and Culture exams. The feedback you provide will help us enhance the experience for future test takers.

Do I need to prepare or practice for this test?

You need to complete the steps before test day to prepare your device for testing, follow all test day instructions, and do your best on test day. You don’t need to practice for the test or have taken a digital exam before.

Where am I testing?

Check the confirmation email you received on January 22 for your test day location. If you’re participating in New York, you’ll be testing at the New York Academy of Medicine (1216 5th Ave.). If you’re participating in Reston, Virginia, you’ll take the test at the College Board office in Reston (11955 Democracy Drive).

Can I change the time or location where I participate?

Unfortunately, we cannot change the time or location of your scheduled exam.

What device can I use to test?

For this technical pilot, you can only use a MacBook, Windows laptop, or an iPad or Windows tablet with an external keyboard. Personal and school-managed Chromebooks will not be supported.
