Withhold Scores
You can request that one or more AP Exam scores be withheld from the score report sent to any college, university, or scholarship program that you selected as a recipient. The score will not be reported on any future reports sent to that recipient.
- Withholding a score does not permanently delete it.
- The fee to withhold a score is $10 per score per recipient.
- You can remove a withhold at any time at no charge.
- Scores are not automatically re-sent to recipients after a withhold is removed. To send the previously withheld score, you must place a new order and pay the $15 score send fee.
Instructions
To withhold a score from a paid score send to a college, university, or scholarship program, log in to the AP Student Score Reporting portal and start a new score send order. Viewing and managing score withholds applied to your exam scores can only be done in the portal; mailed or faxed PDF order forms are no longer accepted for score withhold or paid score send requests.
Note: Score withholds can only be requested after scores for that exam administration are released. Score withholds can't be placed on the free score send students may designate each year they take an exam. For 2026 exams, score withhold ordering will be available starting July 6, 2026.
